In January of 2006, AMT Laboratories was asked to provide a recommendation for an appropriate water repellent for a red iron spot brick from a waterfront residence, circa 1928, in Charleston, SC. Water repellency testing using a general-purpose silane/siloxane water repellent and chloride screen was conducted in the laboratory on the submitted brick. A recommendation was provided based on the results of the laboratory testing.
